HLNJ COMMUNITY PARKS SPECIAL EVENTS

We collaborate with community partners to curate, produce, or sponsor 40+ free outdoor concerts each year in Harlem’s parks. Highlights include:

West Harlem SUMMER Jazz Festival feature FREE Live Outdoor Concerts presented at West Harlem Parks and in collaboration with West Harlem Arts Alliance and NYC Parks. Harlem Late Night Jazz in curatorial association with The National Jazz Museum in Harlem, IAMCHELSEAIAM, Taller Latino Americano, Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance/NoMAA, Montefiore Park Neighborhood Association, Friends of St. Nicholas Park and Morningside Park provide programming for four city parks: Jackie Robinson Park, Morningside Park, St. Nicholas Park and Montefiore Square Park

Funding for the presentations of free outdoor Jazz in West Harlem Parks currently running annually from April through September comes in large part from the West Harlem Development Corporation and District 7 Council Member Shaun Abreu.

Partnering with West Harlem Arts Alliance, West Harlem Development Corporation and NY City Parks, Harlem Late Night Jazz curates performances in West Harlem Park spaces and further, oversees the execution of offerings from other curators.

West Harlem Summer Jazz Festival

The John Coltrane Jazz Festival is an annual Harlem event presented by the New York State Jazz and Literature Society to honor the life and legacy of John Coltrane. Free and open to the public, the festival features live performances by acclaimed jazz artists and rising voices, celebrating Coltrane’s profound influence on American and world music. Held at Harlem Heritage Tours and supported by the Jazz Foundation of America, making Coltrane’s spirit of creativity and cultural impact accessible to audiences in Harlem and beyond.

Harlem Meet Africa Festival

This free annual festival is fun for the whole family, featuring renowned international and local Harlem performers, spoken word, cultural showcases, and amazing African drummers to celebrate the cultural bridge between Harlem and Africa! The festival will provide an inclusive platform for artists and community members to come together, showcasing the vibrancy through music, dance and art. The Harlem Meet Africa Festival is more than just a cultural celebration - it is a day of unity, education, empowerment, and FUN!
